The shortest day of the year. The longest night. The precise moment of the 2005 solstice will be December 21, 2005 at 1:35 P.M. EST. Facts about Solstice. This day is a turning point in the calendar of life. A beginning of a new year, a new season. A chance to look for spring, new crops, and the warmth of the summer sun.
